You know, if I had children, I would sooner have you ask me to pick my favorite child because it would be easier to answer. Here’s a brief compilation of my favorite Indy moments; keep in mind, however, I have likely forgotten to include a few, if only because I love these films as a whole something fierce and am unable to be overtly selective.

Raiders of the Lost Ark

The entire opening sequence. It’s the stuff of legend.
Eye love you.
Indy’s silhouette when he first enters Marion’s bar.
When Marion punches Indy. I adore that man like nothing else, but he had it coming. I betcha you would have done the same.
When Indy shoots the swordsman. I think if you’re an Indy fan, you’re required to love this part, yes?
When Indy kisses Marion in the tent after he realizes she’s alive.
When Marion jumps on Indy’s back after she runs into the cobra. I love his face while she’s squirming about. There’s an adorable sense of familiarity between them.
The truck chase.
“It’s not the years, honey, it’s the mileage.”
The way Indy asks Marion to kiss his boo-boos and make them better.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

I love musicals, so I must therefore love “Anything Goes.”
The car chase with Chauffer Short Round.
The poker game.
Nocturnal activities.
“You said to stand against the wall! I listen to what you say! Not my fault! Not my fault!”
Indy’s epic bitch face after Willie opens the door to the spike room. BEST. EXPRESSION. EVER.
The fight sequence on the conveyer belt.
“You betrayed Shiva!”
When Indy whips Willie around the waist and reels her in for a kiss. I will never not swoon.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

The cut from River Phoenix as young Indy to Harrison Ford as grown-up Indy. Definitely the most goosebump-inducing scene in the entire saga.
Lord Clarence MacDonald and his sniffle.
Henry senior’s very first line: “Junior?”
“I TOLD YOU” - bang, bang, bang, dead Nazis - “DON’T CALL ME JUNIOR.”
The bittersweet conversation between Henry and Indy on the zeppelin. I love its calmness.
The tank chase. It’s my favorite action sequence.
“Indiana, let it go.” It was not a coincidence that Henry chose this moment to call his son by his preferred name.
But just as Dorothy said she will miss the Scarecrow most of all, the last scene is perhaps the moment I love most of all. There is just so much lore and legend packed into this one little part: the revelation and origin behind Indy’s name, a restored bond between father and son, and Indy and company riding off into the sunset accompanied by a stirring arrangement of John Williams’ iconic score. I am consistently left with a lump in my throat, one that physically and emotionally reminds me why I fell in love with Indiana Jones - and the magic of the movies - in the first place.

If you’re in love with Indiana Jones, then you’ve come to the right place (although there’s quite a long line of those who want to marry him, myself included). My dad got me into Indy, too.
